The Caracas Ibero-American Film Festival was born with a clear intention of serving as dissemination and recognition for any type of cinematic expression of Ibero-American directors or productions of first and second works, fiction and documentaries, feature films and short films, student and professional productions. All can be postulated at the festival that, beyond its competitive character, for the selection of the independent pieces of the current film scene.
The first initiative to create a Caracas Film Festival arose with its founding in 2003; however, it was suspended after five editions and has now been refounded again.
The Caracas Ibero-American Film Festival is part of the National System of Film Festivals and Samples in Venezuela (SNFMCV), independent association created under the authorization of the National Autonomous Film Center (CNAC). The Festival is an IMDB qualifying.
The Festival was refounded at the initiative of the writer and filmmaker Francisco Villarroel to promote independent cinema in the Ibero-American region, mainly from new filmmakers.

El Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Caracas nace con una clara intención de: servir de difusión y reconocimiento para cualquier tipo de expresión cinematográfica de directores o producciones iberoamericanas de primeras y segundas obras, de ficción y documentales, largometrajes y cortometrajes, producciones estudiantiles y profesionales. Todas podrán ser postuladas en el festival que, más allá de su carácter competitivo, abogará por la selección de las piezas independientes del actual panorama fÃlmico.
La primera iniciativa de crear un Festival de Cine de Caracas surgió con su fundacion en el año de 2003; sin embargo, fue suspendido luego de cinco ediciones y ahora ha sido refundado nuevamente.
El Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Caracas forma parte del Sistema Nacional de Festivales y Muestras de Cine de Venezuela (SNFMCV), asociación independente creada bajo la autorización del Centro Nacional Autónomo de CinematografÃa (CNAC). El Festival califica para IMDB.
EL Festival fue refundado por el escritor y cineasta Francisco Villarroel para promover las obras cinematográficas de la región, principalmente de noveles autores.
